"Menopause the Musical"
It all began in March 2001, the hilarious stage show "Menopause the Musical" began entertaining and inspiring women from all over the world. "Menopause the Musical", written by Jeanie Linders, is a 90-minute stage production which includes re-lyricized tunes from the 1960s and 1970s, which culminates with a salute to women who are going through "The Change."
"Menopause the Musical" is set inside a department store, where four women with seemingly nothing in common (but a bra) meet by pure chance. The 25 songs in "Menopause The Musical" poke fun at hot flashes, memory loss, mood swings, chocolate cravings, wrinkles, night sweats and eating binges; all those fun menopausal related things. The lyrics parody popular music from the baby boomer era, with notable numbers "Stayin' Awake" and "Puff, My God I'm Draggin'."
"Menopause the Musical" encourages a healthy dialogue about aging, women's health and it provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness with its female (and male!) audiences. A percentage of the proceeds from the productions are contributed to the fight against ovarian cancer, as well as raising awareness of menopause-related issues.
